The 12-episode documentary “The Forbidden City” touches upon the many aspects of the Forbidden City in Beijing, China, from its architecture, functions, cultural relics and artistic treasures, as well as its transition from a royal palace to a public museum. It presents a true picture of historical events and royal court life, delving into the hidden world of vivid personalities little known to the outside world.
Produced by China Central Television (CCTV) and National Geographic in collaboration with the Palace Museum. Chinese and English bi-lingual soundtrack. Subtitled in Japanese, Korean, English, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

The Forbidden City Collector’s Edition is exquisitely packaged with twelve episodes on six DVDs. This limited edition includes an extras DVD with extended documentary segments plus a soundtrack music CD from the series. The accompanying Palace Museum book contains beautifully printed artwork with historical information about the Forbidden City.
